Wow!! Here's the very first issue of our brand-new newsletter
for the members of the Huronia Foundation for the Arts!
We are understandably proud of the progress we have
made in our first year, and we know that you, our members,
will help us to make this organisation a vital and essential
part of our community.
|
 |
First Impressions
- A message from Gord McKay, Chair of the HFA.
Welcome to your new Foundation. When you signed that membership
application a few months back I am sure you had many questions
about what this new Huronia Foundation for the Arts was to
become. As your newly elected Foundation Board we also fretted
over those very same questions. It is now time to start giving
you some answers....(more)
Your Foundation is guided by the simple principle that it
will only be successful if it is relevant to you, its members.
Our first step then is to open the lines of communication.
Your Board will be contacting every member this month to find
out what you want from your Foundation.
We have started a quarterly newsletter to inform you of what
is happening in the arts community that surrounds you. And
our website is being recreated to give you an up-to-date arts
directory and profiles of your fellow artists.
Much more is on the planning table. Over the coming months
we will be able to tell you about these exciting new projects,
including our fall arts showcase.
Your involvement is critical. We need your ideas. Please accept
my open invitation to contact myself or any member of the
Board. It is your dreams that truly are the foundation for
the Arts in Huronia.

What
We've Been Up To...
Your Board has been extremely busy
since our first general meeting in November. In the few short
months since our election, we have created an
Action Plan, drafted a
set of Bylaws, formed several Ad Hoc Committees
to perform the tasks we have determined are necessary to develop
the Foundation, created the beginnings of an all-arts
database, a brochure, a website
and a newsletter, which you are now reading.
We are in the process of acquiring our incorporation and charitable
status and our Membership Committee has begun to contact each
individual member so you can be kept up to date.
We have also created a program
to allow those of our members who don't have a website to
have a web presence for less than the going rate. If you are
interested in having us build your mini-site, please click
HERE.
We have begun gearing up for our Second Annual "Dinner for
Love of the Arts".If you are interested in helping out with
this fun project, please call Lu Robitaille at (705) 534-3971
or email her at lub@sympatico.ca
Our first social evening is coming up fast, and we'd love
to see you at the Carriage House Gallery
on Wednesday, April 9. Some members of the
Foundation have already made some wonderful contacts leading
to new business and great times. Come on out and meet other
members, have a glass of wine and begin forging new connections
and friendships for yourself.
