The Huronia Foundation for the Arts will be hosting
the second-annual
Dinner for Love of the Arts gala in September.
The fundraiser will feature the “Tastes, Sights and
Sounds of Huronia” Oct. 4 at the North Simcoe Sports
and Recreation Centre.
Beginning with samples of chef-prepared hors d’oevrres,
guests will delight in featured paintings, photography, sculptures,
and stained glass pieces, as they listen to the soothing music
of the Georgian Strings. A silent auction will take place
before and during the dinner that features fine foods of the
Huronia region.
The evening will be topped off by a 90-minute showcase of
local talent as the performing arts stage comes alive with
an array of offerings, including First Nations drumming by
Taabik; choral music by Serenata and the Children’s
Community Choir; poetry reading by Roger Bell; vocals by Jessica
Lalonde and Victoria Thompson; piano accompaniment by John
French; theatre performance by Huronia Players, and a dance
recital by members of the School of Dance and Musicianship.
The dinner supports arts foundation work including connecting
artists though its website and the quarterly Newsletter The
Cultural Connection; promoting the work and events of member
artists; creating arts educational events and experiences;
and shortly, the launch of an awards and bursary program.
