side of your brain to get out and exercise your imagination,
then the Arts @ Askennonia will help you find your creative
side!

Sports and Recreation Centre in Midland and is open 9

The Woodcarvers meet weekly (no charge)
and have the choice of working on a group project or working
individually. They help newcomers learn the techniques
and support each other with tips and suggestions.
Beading every other Tuesday Jeanette Brunelle teaches Beading
twice per month and provides attendees with patterns to
make amazing jewelry and art pieces ($1 per visit).
Craft Club on first and third
Tuesday Craft Club is a 1:30 pm ‘drop in’
and open to the entire community, meaning you do not need
a membership or pay anything to attend. All are welcome.
Creative Writing on Mondays Creative Writing is led by retired English
teacher, John Phillips. John encourages
the group to remember life’s stories, to express
present-day thoughts and to have fun with writing. The
fruits of their labours often end up in the monthly newsletter
or on our web site. This weekly class is free to members.
We also have Open Studio on Monday
afternoons, when participants in any of the Arts
@ Askennonia can come in to practice or finish
work.
Everyone can learn to paint, carve, craft, write, take
pictures and sing. It’s just a matter of setting
time aside for yourself and then coming out to learn.
Not everyone’s picture looks the same, of course,
but that’s what makes you unique. It’s amazing
what you can do if you have good teachers and are having
a bit of fun! Memberships for the rest of the year cost
less than a cup of coffee per week, so come out and explore
all that Askennonia has to offer for 55+ North Simcoe
residents!
